Albert was called to the bar in Ontario in 2002 after obtaining his B.A. from the University of Toronto and his J.D. from Queen’s University. He provides his clients advice and guidance in the Business and Corporate Services, Corporate Lending and Wills and Estates practice areas.
Prior to joining Devry Smith Frank LLP, Albert practiced law in a corporate and tax law boutique located in downtown Toronto. Before returning to private practice, Albert was General Counsel and Vice-President, Operations of a real estate development corporation as well as President of its financing subsidiary. As one of the original executives, he helped the company grow to over $50 million in assets under management. More recently, Albert was a senior executive in several telecommunications related companies. It is this business background that differentiates Albert from his peers as he is able to offer practical and grounded advice based on his own experiences as an executive in growing businesses.
Prior to his executive roles, Albert founded a firm known as “The Entrepreneur-Friendly Lawyer” after starting his legal career as a banking and bankruptcy lawyer at a national law firm.
Albert is a frequently sought after expert having been featured in media outlets such as The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Sun, OMNI Television, MoneySense Magazine and Investment Television on topics as wide ranging as legal issues facing fast growing companies to frequently made mistakes in wills and estates planning. He is also a frequent writer on the subject of legal issues in internet marketing as well as being a contributor to numerous blogs.
In his spare time, Albert is involved in the community including acting as a Director and President of Bellwoods Centres for Community Living, a not for profit health care and housing provider. He is often found on summer weekends running 10 km races.
