Commercial Litigation and Bank Recovery Associate Wanted
We are currently seeking a lawyer for our commercial litigation, bank recovery and insolvency group. The position will involve exposure to commercial litigation, recovery work, bankruptcy and insolvency, secured debt enforcement, wrongful dismissal, title insurance, real estate litigation, construction liens and other civil litigation, with an opportunity to focus on and develop expertise in one or more practice areas. Candidates with 3 + years or banking/recovery or commercial litigation experience are preferred.
Real Estate and Commercial Lending Lawyer Wanted
This position will involve working with our real estate and lending group. The successful candidate will be involved in mortgage lending, commercial transactions, commercial real estate purchases and sales, mortgage assignment work and will have the opportunity to become involved in more complex lending transactions. Candidates should have 3 or more years experience in lending and commercial real estate law. This position will enable the successful candidate to play a key role in the growth of the practice.
Mortgage/Bank Recovery Assistant/Law Clerk
We are currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant/Law Clerk with at least 4 years litigation experience to work with an accomplished lawyer and other members of a banking recovery, commercial litigation and mortgage recovery team. This position requires strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with clients, Court officials and opposing counsel. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of civil litigation procedures, preferably with banking, commercial litigation mortgage recovery experience.

Articling at DSF
We hire one articling student annually.
The articling experience at DSF is weighted towards litigation in the insurance defence, banking and commercial litigation groups, although the student is exposed to the other practice areas of the firm. We endeavour to give our articling student the independence and court experience required to help them become a strong litigator and great lawyer.
Since many of the lawyers at the firm also articled at DSF, we view the articling student as an important aspect of the firm’s future growth. Weekly attendance at examinations and motions, carriage of small claims court files, and interaction with many senior lawyers and mentors is part of the experience. Students will assist on motions, pre-trials, mediations, arbitrations, trials (preparing materials, negotiating with opposing parties, and attending), and conduct research.
DSF offers a salary competitive with other mid-sized Toronto firms, and pays for the student’s tuition at the bar admission course regardless of hire-back. Salary is not paid during the bar admission course.
