Viet is a senior associate lawyer in the Commercial Litigation and Recovery Group. He acts for banks, insurers, commercial leasing companies, mid-size and large corporations and individuals in all manner of breach of contract disputes, collection, recovery and enforcement matters.
Viet graduated from the University of Western Ontario, receiving his Bachelor of Arts (Administrative and Commercial Studies) in 1998 and then completing his Bachelor of Laws in 2001. After completing his articles, he was called to the Bar in 2002.
Viet continued his career as an associate with a medium size multi-service law firm in Toronto, where his practice included commercial litigation, corporate and shareholder disputes, bank recovery, collection and secured enforcement law.
His practice later shifted to focus more heavily upon bankruptcy and insolvency law (including acting for Trustees, Receivers and Monitors appointed under the CCAA), commercial litigation, employment law, and construction law. He also acts as mentor to junior associates within the firm.
Viet has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, the Commercial List in Toronto, the Bankruptcy Court, the Construction Lien Court, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Labour Board, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Toronto Lawyer’s Association, the Advocates’ Society, and is a member of the Advocacy and Policy Committee of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.
In his spare time, Viet is an avid traveler, writer and cyclist. Viet is fluently bilingual in English and French and conversant in Vietnamese.
