Viet is a two-time graduate of the University of Western Ontario, receiving his Bachelor of Arts (Administrative and Commercial Studies) in 1998 and then completing his Bachelor of Laws in 2001. After completing his articles, he was called to the Bar in 2002.

Viet continued his career as an associate with a medium size multi-service law firm in Toronto, where his practice included commercial litigation, corporate and shareholder disputes, bank recovery, collection and secured enforcement law.

His practice later shifted to focus more heavily upon bankruptcy and insolvency law (including acting for Trustees, Receivers and Monitors appointed under the CCAA), commercial litigation, employment law, and construction law.

Viet has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, the Commercial List in Toronto, the Bankruptcy Court, the Construction Lien Court, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Labour Board, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Toronto Lawyer’s Association, the Advocates’ Society, the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the Law Society of Upper Canada.

In his spare time, Viet is an avid traveler, writer and cyclist. Viet is fluently bilingual in English and French and conversant in Vietnamese.
