Like the Chinese Proverb: ‘If you know both sides, you will win a hundred times in one hundred battles’ Esther has the unique experience of having worked on both Plaintiff and Defence sides of Personal Injury actions and has gained an advantage in winning strategies by understanding the parties’ interests and resolving claims.
Esther received the Norman Borins Memorial Award during her studies at Osgoode Hall Law School before graduating in 1995.
Since articling at a prominent litigation firm, and her call to the Bar in 1997, she has been involved in thousands of serious personal injury claims including product liability, medical malpractice, professional negligence, occupiers’ liability, and disability claims.
Since joining Devry, Smith & Frank LLP, and becoming a Partner in 2007, Esther has gained a reputation for taking an aggressive approach to claims, and employing progressive strategies.
She has extensive experience in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Appeal, and at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, the Workplace Safety and Appeals Tribunal and the C.P.P. Review Tribunal.
Esther has attended as counsel on numerous private and FSCO mediations and arbitrations. Her litigation and mediation experience contributes to her balanced perspective and ability to resolve complex issues.
