Maurice joined Devry Smith Frank LLP in 2014 and is currently one of the firm’s personal injury lawyers in Toronto. He was called to the Bar of Ontario and admitted to the Bar of New York State and obtained a B.Sc. (Summa Cum Laude) from Touro College (New York) and a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School.
He completed his articles with high profile criminal defense lawyer, Edward L. Greenspan Q.C., and worked with His Honour Justice Edward Then and His Honour Justice Ewaschuk of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Maurice has acted as Counsel for Members of the House of Commons, as well as working on such high profile cases as the Walkerton Inquiry for the Ontario Clean Water Agency. He has prepared matters and appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as an array of administrative tribunals.
Maurice’s work as in-house counsel for one of Ontario’s top three insurers has given him experience in the areas of motor vehicle accidents, accident benefit disputes, slip and fall accidents, boating accidents, homeowner’s liability claims, and disputes between insurers. He has also lectured to insurance adjusters across Ontario on lawsuits and arbitrations involving personal injury and accident benefit claims. Further areas of expertise include plaintiff and defense personal injury, defense property damage litigation, and coverage for foreign and domestic insurers and reinsurers.
Maurice is certified as an arbitrator by the ADR Institute of Ontario. He is fluent in Spanish and French. While at Osgoode, Maurice was the editor-in-chief of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal and received the Student Honour Award at Commencement.
