Stuart is a life-long Queen’s student, having recently completed his Juris Doctor in 2017, after finishing undergraduate studies in politics and economics (BA Hons.).
Stuart joins Devry Smith Frank LLP (“DSF”) as a student-at-law having summered with another Toronto law firm. His primary interests are in labour, employment, and corporate law. At Queen’s, Stuart was especially involved in student life, as a participant in the Donald GH Bowman Tax Moot, member of the Queen’s Journal Board, and campaign manager to several successful student executive teams. In his final year of law school, he served as the Vice President (Finance & Services) of the Society of Graduate and Professional Students (SGPS), where he managed the assets and staff for not-for-profit advocacy organization.
Prior to law school, Stuart worked in politics as a speechwriter and communications specialist at multiple levels of government. Specifically, at Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development (DFATD), where he helped coordinate the government’s communications response to emergent international crisis, and, most recently, as the Assistant to the Chief of Staff to Ontario’s Leader of the Opposition. Outside of government, Stuart is an avid participant in federal and provincial politics, having served on the executive of a major Ontario political party.
As an articling student, Stuart is ready to build on these experiences, and further hone his skills by providing high-quality service to the firm and its clients. In his spare time, he continues to be an avid chess player and accomplished curler.
