L. Viet Nguyen, B.A. (ACS), LL.B
Viet is a senior associate practicing in the Commercial Litigation Group, with a particular emphasis on bankruptcy and insolvency law. His other areas of practice include creditors’ rights, bank recovery, contract disputes, commercial leasing matters, shareholder disputes, security enforcement, employment law, and construction law.
L. Viet Nguyen earned his Bachelor of Arts (Administrative and Commercial Studies) in 1998 from the University of Western Ontario and completed his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Ontario in 2001. After completing his articles at a medium size multi-service law firm in Toronto, he was called to the Bar in 2002.
In his over 10 years of practice, Viet L. Nguyen has acted for small, mid-size and large corporations, individuals, Trustees, Receivers and Monitors appointed under the CCAA, and chartered banks. He places particular emphasis in carrying files from inception through to resolution, including dealing with clients directly and focusing his knowledge and experience in mapping an appropriate strategy, including steps taken inside and outside the courtroom.
Viet has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, the Commercial List in Toronto, the Bankruptcy Court, the Construction Lien Court, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Labour Board, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Toronto Lawyer’s Association, the Advocates’ Society, the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
In his spare time, Toronto Lawyer Viet L. Nguyen is an avid traveler, writer and cyclist. Viet is fluently bilingual in English and French and conversant in Vietnamese.
